Art Hop Collective: Carnage The Executioner @ Blue Opus
May 5 @ 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm

The goal of The Art-Hop Collective is to show the power of collaboration between art and music, and to immerse – or rather, embed – viewers into the creative experience.

As for Carnage The Executioner, whether he’s rapping, producing, performing, teaching kids to beatbox or working his former job as a youth counselor, it’s clear he was born to do two things: instruct and entertain. Musicians, dancers, DJs, poets and television hosts who have worked with Carnage recognize his dedication to his craft and would confirm that he doesn’t disappoint. Ask emcees about Carnage’s skill level and you’ll find out that the phrase, “he’s your favorite rapper’s favorite rapper” actually fits.

A music fan since childhood, Carnage has filled his memory bank with thousands of references from all genres to draw from. Carnage’s start as a human beat boxer has taken on a life of its own. He now uses technology like looping and effects pedals commonly used by guitarists. He enhances the experience of a live Hip-Hop show by providing his audiences the opportunity to hear original Carnage material, as well as unique improvisations and spot-on recreations of popular songs. Carnage uses this same musical knowledge and technology to create custom, studio human beat box tracks. His audio vision via mouth music can be heard on albums by Hip-Hop heavyweights Aesop Rock and R.A. The Rugged Man.

Carnage is a self-trained songwriter who’s skilled enough to compose a heart-felt story as easily as he can craft an intricate battle rap. Carnage gained national fame from his past guest appearances with Eyedea & Abilities. It’s his own original songs, however, that allow his fans to connect with him the most. Songs like Addict, Save My People and The MTW Story give fans a glimpse into the real-life experiences of Carnage the human being.

Always moving forward, Carnage continues to expand his art and build the Hecatomb crew – a slew of like-minded artists who share his passion to create honest, raw Hip-Hop music. A student and fan in his humble beginnings, Carnage stays true to the culture that both helped to change and save his life.

On this night, The Art-Hop Collective and Carnage The Executioner will come together at the renowned Blue Opus to create a one-of-a-kind experience for all in attendance. Sight, sound, taste, and smell will be delighted. Don’t miss this opportunity for a musical and artistic experience you won’t find anywhere else.

Special food and drink menu will be available for this event.

May 8 @ 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Remember Shrinky Dinks? Well, Stephanie Harvey is far too young to remember them too, of course (way before her time ), but she does love them and has a passion for sharing arts in the community. Stephanie has been enjoying creating all sorts of tiny wall art, key chains, earrings, pins, wine charm and more with the amazing Grafix shrink plastic! During this fun Drink and Shrink Night at McFleshmans, Stephanie will give you some tips and tricks on how to make the coolest, tiniest things to gift or keep for yourself! You will go home with hand outs, at least three completed projects and leftover material to continue creating even after the workshop. You will also enjoy three five ounce pours of McFleshman’s delish beers with your $40 workshop fee, so you can sample.

Do you claim to have no artistic talent? No problem! Stephanie will also provide some royalty free clip art and other fun ways to create cool things to trace and modify! Attendees are also welcome to bring their own drawings, pictures, clip art and other imagery.

A Lifetime of Art @ Kress Pavilion
May 30 @ 8:00 am – Sep 1 @ 5:00 pm

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Egg Harbor)—May 30, 2019—Richeson School of Art & Gallery and the Village of Egg Harbor’s Public Arts Initiative are excited to announce a joint effort to present the exhibition “A Lifetime of Art,” which celebrates a retrospective of artwork collected by Jack Richeson. The exhibit will open with a free and open to the public reception on Thursday, May 30, from 5PM to 7PM. The artwork on display is on loan to the Donald & Carol Kress Pavilion from Jack Richeson’s private collection.
The exhibit is entitled “A Lifetime of Art.” Jack Richeson has been and continues to be an avid collector of artwork for the past 60 years, and is dedicated to furthering awareness and appreciation for original art and the artists that create it. Jack and the rest of the Richeson family have collected over 500 original pieces of art and continue to add to the collection. “If a piece of art speaks to your heart, it will enrich your environment and your life,” is a tenet of both the Richeson family and the Jack Richeson Co.
This exhibition will remain on display until Fall 2019 and represents pieces from the Richeson collection and includes watercolor, oil, casein and pastel paintings. It is the hope of Richeson School of Art & Gallery that Door County residents and visitors share in the pleasure Jack has found collecting the works of contemporary artists. Artists featured in this exhibit include: Zoltan Szabo, Stephen Quiller, Frank Francese, Ramone Kelly, Buffalo Kaplinski, James Gurney, Chris VanWinkle and Roger Bassemer.
