ANNEW, Why we do it, and why we do it for free.

ANNEW; why we do it, why we do it for free, and what we think the future holds for it.
How & Why did we create ANNEW?
ANNEW was created to give a voice, if you will, to our local Artists. If you look at area event calendars, news programs, or even public service announcements on the radio, you will find that there is no shortage of press or promotion for music concerts, High School plays, comedy shows, performing arts shows or even upcoming movies. But it seems like very little attention is given to the visual arts. Art show openings, art competitions, art classes & instruction or even art lectures, do not garner the same amount of attention. So we set out to see if we could change it. Luckily for me, my co-host for the news is HavenPaul. Paul is an artist and photographer. In fact, it is his camera that we use and he does the editing and handles all of the tech stuff that I don’t have time to learn let alone do. He is a person that is not afraid to learn new things. He is a retired business owner which allows him to devote some of his time to this project, (between his extensive travels).
Why do we do it for free? Because nobody’s going to pay us to do it! LOL, So it would never get done. Kind of the why did the chicken cross the road type of thing. Actually, we both love doing the news, and I think it shows when we go off script and start ad-libbing and laughing. For me, it’s a break from my regular routine of running a business and of course, we get to meet new artists and visit different art events. what I think the future holds for ANNEW? We’ve only been doing the news for 7 months now so I can definitely say that the future is very bright for ANNEW. We have learned so much in such little time and we already have lots of new ideas for 2020.
To quote Bob Marley, “Don’t worry about a thing because every little thing is going to be alright”!!!
Now I’m going to have that song in my head. But that’s a good thing!
